Grandma's mulligatanny

1 onion
1 clove garlic
meat, eg 4 pieces chicken, chopped
6 cups water
2 Tbsp lemon juice
salt
1 Tbsp curry powder
1 tsp turmeric
6 cloves
small stick cinnamon
fresh ginger
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp coriander
3 cardamom pods

Fry onion and garlic. Add ground spices and saute. Add meat and brown lightly. Add water, salt, and whole spices (in spice container). Cook until meat is done. Add lemon juice and serve over rice.
