self improving vs meeting commitment
right

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:28 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
point 1

the team should not just choose the process that they follow, but they should be actively encouraged to continue to evolve it and change it as they go.

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:30 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
the point is the team doing the work should choose how they do it
that is a fundamental agile principle

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:30 AM] Kerr, Tom:
yes

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:30 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
the point is that the team doing the work should choose how they do it

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:33 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
That even means that if the team doesnt want to work in an agile way, then agile probably isnt appropriate in that context, and NOT using agile is the most agile way they can do things in some strange twisted world of logic :)

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:34 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
something we must address is the big problem of "installing Agile" and imposing the "one best way" of doing things

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:34 AM] Vance, Ashley:
it is not cookie cutter

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:35 AM] Bhati, Satye:
To Paul's point - if the team knows what is to be built and how to build it then that leaves little room for agility

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:36 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
what if we helped folks reframe what agility is?

Agility is at its core an emergent systemic condition that cannot be managed like a project or managed from above.

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:38 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
its about orienting ideas through ongoing design of minimal roles, structures, rules that act as attractors and amplifiers to the emerging organization

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:44 AM] Vance, Ashley:
So true
Teams feel like we are not doing anything about the impediments
they are tired of bringing it up.

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:48 AM] Register, Anthony:
TOL: Are the impediments collected essentially the same every month? we are just creating new reports based of the same or very similar data? Maybe take what we have and focus on getting them 'done'? I have not looked at that data yet, but suspect that.

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:49 AM] Vance, Ashley:
same/similar impediments each month

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:49 AM] Register, Anthony:
we are capturing more and more data, but what is it that we are trying to get done other than collecting more data? we have enough now to keep us busy for a while fixing the impediments.

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:49 AM] Vance, Ashley:
root causes are the same over and over

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:50 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
scrum will make things worse
i would argue it already is

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:50 AM] Maloney, Bernard:
@ashley, @tony - I want to make space for y'all to speak and clarify

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:52 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
is it the coaches reponsibility to change things themselves? Who is responsible for the transformation?

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:53 AM] Register, Anthony:
we've collected 6 months of great data. lets look at our inventory and build a roadmap for removal.

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:53 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
we can help folks with approaches to solve these new probs

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:53 AM] Vance, Ashley:
these changes are needed at leadership level
we can provide the specific examples

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:54 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
its both an inner transformation and later an outer transformation
we started outer and now are realizing it aint giving us the outcomes we want

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:55 AM] Wieland, Heidi:
I agree with Tony

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:55 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
its not a data problem
agreed
its a transformational one

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:58 AM] Sharma, Seema:
I would add to Ashley's comments, since the leadership is not fully loaded with Agile, their imbalance in power center from team to team leading to ineffective agility

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:59 AM] Register, Anthony:
yes! agile transformation roadmap
at leadership level. not only will it help them better manage their work, they learn a better understanding first hand.

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 9:59 AM] Senour, Robert:
We started with teams, but we needed to start much higher. Not just "Yeah, we need that", actual training.

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 10:00 AM] Register, Anthony:
shared understanding and collaboration at the leadership level. building chemistry and synchronization. just like our scrum teams.

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 10:01 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
you cant do the left circle without the right circle
wish it were so but it aint

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 10:01 AM] Vance, Ashley:
Bahaaaaa

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 10:01 AM] Register, Anthony:
thats a circle? Do we need DxD now?
:D

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 10:04 AM] Register, Anthony:
i have a change going on with one of my teams --> 1 splitting into 2 --> net gain 1.

[‎7/‎19/‎2019 10:11 AM] Sutton, Paul R.:
Reccomendation: For every new team we coach and train, we facilitate at least 1 to 2 Problem Solving Leadership workshops with leaders and coach them
its balancing out delivery agility with org'l agility
