Fred Hyman is the founder and past President of Americom.

1. Americom PocketDisc was introduced before Hip Pocket records.
2. Hip Pocket never sold through vending machines.
3. Americom PocketDiscs only released top 20 Billboard records simultaneously with the release of 45 rpm records, Hip Pocket released old recordings.
4. Americom also introduced a radio/record player combination called The Swinger that played in any position.
5. Americom PocketDiscs are highly collectible selling for up to $1,400 (Yellow Submarine) while Hip Pocket records sell for just a few dollars.
