I probably shouldn't be so shocked by all the negative commentary I am reading about tonight's genius #GoldenGlobes2018, but I am. And disappointed.

Winning has never required an either/or scenario, it's always been a both/and. To build a mass movement we need access to what people read watch and listen to, like the Golden Globes. We need unlikely allies and multiple strategies. We need mass strategies to build a mass movement. Thank goodness somebody out here bold enough to make those kind of moves!

I am really proud of the organizing and organizers I know it took to make tonight happen. It's clear to me that some very thoughtful folks did a lot of work and some courageous artists took some real risks.

It's not simply about Oprah, or Meryl or whomever, it's about using the entertainment industry to move beyond entertainment to force a sea change that shifts conditions for low wage workers, using momentum and social capital to speak for those whose voices are too often unheard. That's cultural strategy. That's mass lining.

That's pure genius, in my book.

#TimesUp - not just for the brutal powerholders, but also for the narrow thinkers and those who would rather critique than applaud. Time is up for you too. We don't all feel like we have forever to get this thing together. Some of us are ready now.

So proud of all of y'all moving big things right now. We need you. Thank you!
