Racial Remark Again Prompts An N.B.A.

"It is another blow to the league, which earlier this year forced Donald Sterling to sell the Los Angeles Clippers after a recording in which he made offensive remarks about black people was made public."

No. It's another blow to the notion of a color blind society. The NBA isn't the half of it.

It's a reminder that not only are African-Americans not to be believed when they say they witnessed the police shoot a man with his hands in the air, they aren't even valued when they spend money in this society. It's a reminder that the fear of "blacks" is seen as legitimate and rationale by people who should know better. We now KNOW they insidiously promulgate their racist beliefs throughout their enterprises.

That Levinson can repudiate his own words is laughable. It wasn't a mistake. he thought about it, considered it, wrote it down and clicked send. Mark Cuban would walk on the other side of the street when HE see's "black" people "late at night", though he has no personal experience of violence at the hands of any particular "black" person. Donald Sterling didn't want "black" people in his arena. Sterling, you will remember, threatened to say what knew.

These are people who REALLY matter. They're 1%, who make decisions that affect the way the country, looks and works; who gets what, including access to things other than basketball arenas.

Racism is an urgent, national problem that continues to debilitate the lives of black folk.
