Ted Kooser is awesome

For 35 years, Kooser worked in the life insurance business, waking up in the early morning hours to write his poetry. He retired six years ago and now lives in rural Nebraska.

Former Poet Laureate Ted Kooser wrote a lot of his early works in a large cardboard box he found in the alley near his home. He'd get inside, type away, and then tape his poems to the walls.
