Make the B&Q of things
What would a B&Q for IoT be like?
- B&Q as a space for browse-prototyping
- DoES in-house components act a bit like this
- B&Q is supposed to be full of helpful assistants who can tell what you need to buy
- Toolstation removes this experience to the Argos of DIY and building materials but is interestingly a mix of trade and domestic business...
- Weirdly although expertise and advice have been designed out of Toolstation staff continue to offer it if asked; the waiting area by the catalogues (the Argos & Maplin experience) is also an informal space for exchanging knowledge; do you know how to cut steel mate?
- Some weird hybrid with the cheapness and informal-ness of Toolstation counters (incidentally a relatively low testosterone level with 50% female staff but I've yet to see a female customer in 3 years of use)
