Flour Tortillas

Flour Tortillas

2 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp vegetable shortening
1/2 to 3/4 c warm water (110° F)

In a mixing bowl stir together flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut in shortening till the mixture resembles cornmeal.
Add 1/2 cup of the warm water and mix till dough can be gathered into a ball. If needed, add additional water, 1 tablespoon at a time.
Divide dough into balls about the size of a ping pong ball, cover and let rest 15 minutes.
On a lightly floured surface roll dough into a thin round. Cook in an ungreased skillet over medium high heat turning frequently until lightly browned on each side.

Makes about 10 tortillas.
