Start with two assumptions:
Wealth is neither created nor lost, it simply transfers from one person to another.
If you find yourself in a poker game, and you cannot spot who the patsy in the game is, then YOU are the patsy.

So, if you find yourself investing in a new imaginary conceptual currency, and you can't spot the sucker in the scheme...
