Random fragments of Leo fic

Leo was preparing for his part in officiating Kaoru's and Kouga's wedding. He wished things had been different somehow, but he wouldn't break up the two of them. And at least he'd be one of those there to share in the joy.

Rekka, another priest, appeared in the doorway. "There's been a change of plans, here's something to wear."

Leo stared at it. "I think you picked up Kouga's clothes by accident, Rekka-san." It looked like the Groom's clothes... and he wasn't the groom. The ties in her hand made him glad that he wasn't the one getting married that day.

Makai wedding rites sometimes could be terrifying, and he didn't envy Kouga or Kaoru's next few hours.

"No, I didn't." Rekka-san looked at him as if he was dense. And he wasn't dense. "These are your wedding clothes, Leo-kun."

"I'm not getting married," Leo said. "Weddings are between one man and one woman, never between two men and one woman."

"There's a first time for everything." He remembered what Kouga had told him, about how Rekka desperately wanted to be a Knight. Maybe she wanted to be Rodo. Or maybe she just wanted things to change. "So, get dressed."

"But Rekka-san...." He was pretty sure neither Japanese law nor Makai custom would recognize him as a partner in this marriage. Try all she might, he was sure Rekka-san couldn't change that.

Besides, he was not in the right frame of mind to be tied up.

Leo quietly stole off to his room while Kaoru was dragging Kouga into their now-shared bedroom. He might have gone through the entire ceremony as a groom - anything to make Kouga's and Kaoru's special day more special - but he was no more married to them than he'd been when he'd gotten up that morning. The Senate wouldn't recognize their marriage and neither would the mundane authorities. He was tired, having gone through a very long ceremony, and he really didn't mind hiding in his own bed, sleeping alone.

"Leo?" Kaoru asked, standing in the doorway. "What are you doing?"

"Going to bed," he said. It was the most sensible answer.

She crossed the room. "Come join me and Kouga. We're married, after all."

He hadn't thought she'd take it so seriously. But then again, Rekka had too. His binding had been particularly tight.

"Kaoru-san...." He slipped into a more formal way of addressing her. She wasn't his wife, after all, no matter how much he'd like her to be.

"Don't 'Kaoru-san' me," she said firmly. "You said the vows. We're going to be together for the rest of our lives."

It was a moment where he almost hoped that the Senate would reactivate him as Rodo and send him back to his territory. "Kaoru...."

Taking his arm, she pulled him towards her bedroom - her new bedroom - and he found it hard to resist her.

Kaoru had teased him after that first night about how big a virgin he was. And it was true- he really hadn't ever slept with someone before, much less two someones, the people he'd wanted to share his life with had they not found each other first. She'd also told him how adorable he'd been as she'd started tugging his clothes off, Kouga giving him a half-grin that told Leo that he wouldn't have done it but he was glad Kaoru had. For all that Kouga seemed straight, Leo didn't mind. He had Kaoru, though he'd tried to pull out as much as possible to make sure that he didn't get Kaoru pregnant.

And then she'd given him a lecture which made his ears red, though she smiled through it.

He still wished that he could truly be married to them in the eyes of the Makai world and the regular one. But they weren't, so he was hesitant to sleep with them. Still, he obediently shared their bed, though he was glad when they'd gotten a bigger one for the three of them. It made it easier to be by himself and still be there for them.

"Come on, Leo!" Kaoru announced at the door of their bedroom. "We're waiting!"

He gave her a smile and walked her way.
